Norbury Manor Joins GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Attempt: Most People Reading Online in 12 Hours

On Thursday 8th October 2026, Norbury Manor Primary School proudly took part in a global GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt for the "most people reading online in 12 hours", hosted by the National Literacy Trust and the British Council.
Joining participants across 85 countries, pupils read independently for 10 minutes using books, magazines, comics, or poems (excluding audiobooks). Readers verified their participation by logging in via Zoom and filling out confirmation pop-up forms. The event offered four age-targeted webinar groups (5–8, 8–12, 12–16, and 16+) repeated across time zones, featuring inspiring appearances from authors Rashmi Sirdeshpande, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Nathanael Lessore, Coco Omer, and Zubs.
This global reading initiative perfectly demonstrated our school value of Scholarship, helping our pupils develop lively, enquiring minds through the joy of reading
