Kenya Class: Growing

Kenya Class have been studying the topic 'Growing' this term.  They read the story Jasper's beanstalk and talked about how to plant a bean based on the story.  Then the children were given the opportunity to write instructions on how to plant a seed.  They planted their own beans as well as herbs such as parsley, rosemary and thyme.  

The children also learnt about what plants need to grow and which environment the plants would grow well.  The children were excited to observe the changes that occur and talked about it everyday, comparing the different heights of the plants (using words like tallest, shortest), and identifying and naming the basic parts of the plants.  Some of the children also made lovely paintings and drawings of their bean plants.
