Healthy Schools Challenge Week and Sports Day at Norbury Manor Primary School

We are committed to nurturing resilient, empathetic, and excellent learners who embrace every moment as an opportunity to grow. Our recent Healthy Schools Challenge Week and Sports Day beautifully exemplify our school values in action, promoting wellbeing, teamwork, and community spirit among our pupils and families.

Our final challenge week of the academic year was dedicated to Healthy Week, where pupils explored what it truly means to have a:

  • Healthy Mind: Understanding mental wellbeing and strategies to foster a positive mindset.
  • Healthy Friendships: Building empathy, respect, and supportive relationships.
  • Healthy Body: Learning about nutrition, exercise, and sun safety—a vital topic we revisit annually to keep our pupils safe and informed.

The week began with pupils proudly wearing T-shirts emblazoned with positive messages, reflecting our values of thankfulness, community, and resilience. This inspiring start set the tone for a week full of learning and personal growth.

Sports Day and Family Picnic: Fun, Fairness, and Resilience

Healthy Week culminated in our exciting Sports Day events and family picnic, a much-anticipated occasion that brings together pupils, parents, and staff in celebration of physical health and school community spirit.

This year, due to severe heat, some traditional Sports Day events were postponed to ensure everyone’s safety, demonstrating our commitment to peace and the wellbeing of all.

Key highlights of the day included:

  • Resilience Bands Awarded: One team, which had not won a medal since the start of our events, received special resilience bands for their unwavering determination and outstanding support to other teams. This embodies our core value of resilience, showing that perseverance and teamwork matter as much as winning.
  • Participation Stickers: Teams finishing in fourth and fifth place were recognised with participation stickers, reinforcing that every effort counts.
  • Cool Treats for All: Every pupil was rewarded with an ice lolly at the end of the day to refresh and celebrate their hard work.

Can You Guess the Winners?

We invite our school community to reflect on the excitement of the day:

  • Which teams do you think won first, second, and third place?
  • Can you recall which team was the first ever to achieve a gold medal at our first Sports Day event?

This engagement helps foster a sense of belonging and pride in our school’s journey and achievements.
