Year 4 London Sightseeing Trip

On January 16th, Year 4 went on a sightseeing trip around London to support their learning of the book ‘Katie In London’ by James Mayhew.

In the story, Katie and her brother Jack get a special tour of London by a lion from Trafalgar Square, who takes them on a whirlwind tour of the sights of London, including places such as The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.

Unfortunately, our pupils did not get to ride on a lion, but were able to tour the many sights using public transport. They travelled on the train, the bus and even on a boat along the river Thames.

Like Katie in the book, they were able to enjoy a number of sights, including Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square.

Despite the rainy weather, a fun day was had by all.

The comments from the children after the trip were very positive,

‘I enjoyed the boat trip the most’

‘It was a rainy day, but I liked seeing Buckingham Palace. The flag was up, so she was in the Palace, but we didn’t see her!’

‘I liked being on the boat, it was warm, and rocking gently!’

‘We saw the Queens guards practicing their marching.’

‘I liked seeing all the places in London, I really liked hearing Big Ben.‘
