Norbury Manor Primary School

ECO School Planting Team

As part of our journey to becoming an Eco School we wanted to develop the importance of taking care of our school grounds, so we decided to plants flowers by our school entrance.

Not only does it look bright and welcoming but it attracts the bees, in built up areas like Norbury the bees are having to travel so far between flowers to pollinate, that they do not have the energy to continue. This is just a small way we can help.

We chose red flowers to represent the colour of the poppies; the symbol of Remembrance Day and yellow to represent all who lost their lives during the Corona Virus Pandemic.

It was a great opportunity for the children to have first hand experience of how to pot and take care of outdoor plants.
